Land Transport - Trains |
|
There several routes, which join important regions in the country such as the train from Arequipa to Juliaca in Puno in the southern part of Peru. However, the most important one departs from Cusco to reach the astonishing Machu Picchu.
There is as well the Lima-Hunacayo train, on the Mantaro valley. This train has become famous since it has the highest route in the world. Crossing over the central Andes mountain range, it reaches 4000 masl. Another service is the named Tren Macho, going through the Andes mountain range, departs from Huancayo to Huancavelica on the central highlands.
Currently, Perú Rail is the company that operates the southern routes, which means that its service joins the most attractive points such as Cusco and Machu Picchu, Arequipa and Puno as well as Arequipa and The Colca Canyon, where the flight of the condor may be appreciated.
All along the routes the scenery is of outstanding beauty. The service has been modernized with the best comfort and safety standards; above all the first class carriages offer excellent snacks on the route and have beautiful panoramic windows to fully enjoy the Peruvian remarkable landscape. |
